Anjulie bares it all on her debut single, "Brand New Bitch" [Universal Republic Records]. Over a propulsive beat, the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter vividly proclaims independence from a lame lover without eschewing any of the nasty little details. Her hyper catchy sound is primed with dance floor energy, unfiltered lyrics, R&B swagger, pop hooks, and a sexy croon. However, it's only a prelude of what's to come on her forthcoming album for Republic. In order to maintain her singular vision, Anjulie sought out each track's producer and penned the lyrics to these songs herself. This is all her, and she's not afraid to go all the way. Anjulie is the "Brand New Bitch" pop desperately needed.

Scotty McCreery took time out of his American Idol Live! rehearsals in LA earlier this summer to film his first music video for "I Love You This Big." "We found this park that had a little country feel to it and it all worked out,” he says. “If I hadn’t told you that, you would think we would have shot that in North Carolina somewhere!" A behind-the-scenes clip shows how the video was shot over the course of one afternoon and evening, with the always-energetic Scotty describing the video as "kind of like a July fourth barbeque...we're going to have fireworks and they're going to be grilling - a cool little community-type thing."

"I Love You This Big" is available now fordownload and will be included on Scotty's debut album Clear As Day, set for release on October 4th. VisitScottyMcCreery-Official.com to stay up-to-date on everything Scotty, andpreorder the album now for a chance to win a trip to meet him at the CMA Awards in Nashville on November 9th.

The show, filmed by Noisey in July, marks a change in the band's style both musically and in their performance. Watch the 'Wall of Death' become the 'Wall of Hugs' and screaming transformed into melodic singing, as one fan so aptly put it; "even though they're playing hardcore music, they're all about love and having a good time." Dananananaykroyd believe music is about being as visceral, honest and clear as possible. What more could matter from a 21st century rock band?

KIMYA DAWSON REVEALS HER "THUNDER THIGHS" THIS OCTOBER 25TH

BRAND NEW ALBUM FEATURES AESOP ROCK, JOHN DARNIELLE OF THE MOUNTAIN GOATS, NIKOLAI FRAITURE OF THE STROKES AND MORE

Kimya Dawson is not preaching to the choir, rather gladly admits standing in the middle, arms around each member, singing her upcoming self-released album, Thunder Thighs due out October 25th via Burnside Distribution. As Kimya's seventh album, the assumed lo-fi sound has taken a delightful turn with the addition of pianos, backing choirs, string arrangements and several beats produced by rapper Aesop Rock. Although the personal touch of Kimya's delicate strumming and the crackling of her soft voice still sit forefront, the backbone is a more mature solid arrangement that supports her powerful poetry.

The mother of one, who's work with The Moldy Peaches and the Grammy Award winning, platinum selling soundtrack for the film Juno, did not record alone. With her latest release, Kimya has recruited several artists to join the aforementioned choir, appearances by Aesop Rock, John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats, Nikolai Fraiture of the Strokes, Bryan Danielson, Forever Young Senior Citizen Rock and Roll Choir, Olympia Free Choir, and her own five year old daughter Panda create an eccentric journey through Kimya's revealing and honest songs. The first of 16 tracks to be uncovered is "All I Could Do," a live performance for Kimya's chickens in her backyard shot by Aesop Rock. The first track of the album acts as a musical snapshot of Kimya's life, and is the perfect introduction to her latest release.

WORLD'S BEST DAD - WORLD PREMIERE
(Joshua Gross | New York, NY | 84 min.)
Miles hasn't seen Matt since their father passed away. Now, they're going to blast him into space. Once they steal his ashes. And figure out how to launch the rocket. And get him to Nevada. We all have different ways of mourning. In some cultures, you don't leave the house for a week. In others, you drink and have a big party. There might be praying, rending of garments, fire rituals. And that's what you get here. Sort of. If you're an aimless young man who's life has been traumatized by a domineering father, you start by chucking some rocks at your little brother's window in the middle of the night so you can show off the new stars and strips paint job on the van and the bright yellow t-shirts you hand-printed. Because for Miles (Charlie Ochs), the lead in this charming indie comedy, the adventure is always on the verge of beginning.

Brooklyn-based We Are Augustines are set to have a physical release of their debut full-length, Rise Ye Sunken Ships, on August 23 via Atlantic/WEA Distribution. The album landed in the Top 10 of SoundScan's New Artists chart on the strength of its first week of digital sales. The album release will be a cause for celebration for the band as they'll be marking the occasion with a very special performance on WNYC Soundcheck at 2 p.m. EST.

The band will be heading out on tour in September to support Rise Ye Sunken Ships, visiting major markets including Washington DC, Boston and Los Angeles along the way. The tour begins on September 10 in Seattle, WA, but will be preceded by a number of Daytrotter Barnstormer shows in late August. For full tour dates, please see below.

The band was formed by ex-Pela members Billy McCarthy and Eric Sanderson, and includes Rob Allen on drums. Much of the material on Rise Ye Sunken Ships documents the most traumatic period of lead vocalist/guitarist McCarthy's life in which he lost both his schizophrenic mother and his brother, James, to suicide. "Headlong Into The Abyss" recounts James' flight from the police while "Book of James," one of several songs recorded with producer Dave Newfeld (Broken Social Scene), is a gripping eulogy for this once-resilient spirit who succumbed to the pressures bearing down on him. "The Instrumental," a transcendent, richly textured piece written by bassist/keyboardist Sanderson, closes out Rise Ye Sunken Ships on a note of hope, suggesting that struggle can ultimately point the way to peace.

The album has already received praise, with NYLON noting that while it is "an album rooted in tragedy, there is a certain hopefulness to it, and McCarthy sings like a man who has a lot to say and wants to be heard before it is too late." Similarly, the band's video for "Chapel Song" has already been added at MTV-U in Cum Laude rotation.

Another amazing year for Boardmasters Festival has come to close with some epic memories that this year celebrated thirty years of surfing at Newquay, Cornwall

An action packed week of pro surfing competition at the awe-inspiring Fistral Beach and two full on days of music and good times at the stunning clifftop site of Watergate Bay which played host to some of the best dance, indie, grime, grunge, nu –wave and acoustic acts around, playing to daily packed out crowds overlooking breathtaking views of beautiful Cornish sea and vast stretches of pristine golden Watergate Bay sand.

Music

Two days of bulging line ups included performances from the likes of Fat Boy Slim bringing the crowd to a frenzy as he unveiled some exclusive new visuals and pyrotechnic tricks in his superb two hour set, whilst Bombay Bicycle Club delighted the crowds with their eclectic signature sounds. Klaxons worked the chanting crowd into an energetic mosh pit and Eliza Doolittle brought her beachside bags of charm to entertain the masses, as did Willy Mason and Ben Howard with Lethal Bizzle, Zane Lowe, DJ Yoda, Breakage, Qemists and Gentlemen’s Dub Club keeping the party going into the early hours.

The Vans Off The Wall Stage played host to the finest grunge and bad boy indie rock with the likes of Skindred, Twin Atlantic, The King Blues and Lower Than Atlantis and the Tuaca Point Arena kicked off nightly with electrifying sets from Jaguar Skills, Krafty Kuts, Crazy P and Stanton Warriors and many more.

Boardmasters famously intimate Beach Sessions gigs were ignited this year by glowing seaside performances from headliners Newton Faulkner – with support from Charlie Simpson who showcased his new solo album, alongside We Are The Ocean and party starters The Dub Pistols.

Fistral Beach played host to Radio 1 and 1Xtra who both broadcast live from the beach, and Channel 4 got amongst the action with interviews and gossip from all of the festival’s top artists and daily surf side action. Look out for the show due to be aired on 5th and 6th September.

Sport

The final and main day of sport kicked off with great waves while the sun was shining for the Men’s 6 star World Tour surf final. The top international surfers, who were whittled down from 144 to the top 8 over the week, had a huge crowd on the beach to witness the quarter and semi finals. Frenchman Romain Cloitre ended up taking the glory, and the $20,000 prize money, in the epic surf final. You can access all the heats from the quarter finals to the finals on the Boardmasters website: www.boardmasters.co.uk

Watch Romain Cloitre winner’s interview here: http://www.vimeo.com/27697685

The Vans Summer Session skate competition was fierce in the late afternoon, with top athletes from around the world competing on the huge 12 foot Vert Ramp. The final heats had competitors ranging in age from their teens to their 40’s, with some big tricks being cheered on from the sidelines. English-born Paul-Luc Ronchetti took the top honours in the Vert and took home a handy £3,500 prize money.

The BMX midi ramp had a huge crowd to watch the finals take place up on the hill in the new Headland Village area. Top UK athletes battled it out in the final heats, stepping up the level of riding and pulling out never-seen-before tricks for the cheering crowd. Jersey athlete Alex Colebourn had a phenomenal session and took the winning place, along with £1,000 prize money.

Looking forward to 2012

Andrew Topham, Boardmasters event director said: “We are absolutely delighted with the festival this year. The 15,000 music festival tickets sold out and we were treated to amazing headline shows from the Klaxons and Fatboy Slim. Down at Fistral Beach we crowned two European surf champions with two locals Ben Skinner and Adam Griffiths qualifying for the world championship tour. About Drive A:

Sometimes a chance meeting is more than it seems – inthe case of Drive A, a random moment ignited a fuse resulting in a incendiarynew band. Songs about rebellion, crunchy guitars and killer hooks have theirfoundation in old school punk and rock n’ roll that the band reveres buttheir stage presence and delivery is fresh and in the now. With a fan followingthat is expanding exponentially, it’s clear that the band is ontosomething. Drive A come roaring into 2011 with their brand new album, The Worldin Shambles, out on Dead Conflict Records this Spring.

The World in Shambles is the follow up to theirdebut album Loss of Desire (2009). The critically acclaimed album whichfeatured singles “Are You Blind” and “Can’t Sleep ItOff” set the precedent for Drive A’s form of high energy rockn’ roll and provided the soundtrack for their energetic live show.Frontman Bruno Mascolo explains “although we’re still proud of Lossof Desire, we feel we’ve come along way as musicians and songwriters, youcan hear that we’ve played about 200 shows since our last record.”The band freely admits that their singular mission upon entering the studio wasto craft an album that bottled their firecracker live energy and onstageprowess. They collectively rejected polished, computerized techniques andtechnologies in favor of beautiful, genuine imperfections, all of which serveto make The World in Shambles that much more authentic.

"We wanted to make something that was raw,and that sounded like our band when we played live," Bruno Mascolo said.“Songwriting is the essence of the band but playing live is how we trulyconnect with people, with that in mind we recorded The World in Shamblescompletely live, there were no click tracks, so what you hear is what we soundlike. It was about capturing the energy and not trying to achieve perfection."

Armed with a killer arsenal of songs, the banddecided to drive their message with an image that is uncompromising anddisciplined. "Today, it's all about how you look," Nott said."It's like 'This is a metal band' or 'This is a rock band. People get soobsessed with what genre a band is a part of that they forget to even listen tothe music. We got sick of wearing other band’s shirts on stage becausepeople started labeling us as part of that scene. We want people to care aboutour music, not about what bands we like. With the new album came the new image. We wear patches with our logo and we have another patch for a character on thealbum, called 'The Marked Man.'"

"He is the underdog, the guy who dwells on hisproblems until eventually he creates a target on himself. We have all gonethrough that," Mascolo concurred. “We wear the uniforms on stagebecause it puts every thing on the music but we aren’t wearingmeaningless patches, they hint at the message behind the band."

The band's logo is their take on the anarchy flag, but instead of paying lip service to the concept without ever doing anything tobring about change, Drive A hope to actually incite listeners to action.Mascolo said, "We're not going to say 'Fuck the government' on stage. Wewant to encourage fans who are living a one-sided life, who go to school, college and then get a job and wonder if that's it, to go after theirdreams."

On The World in Shambles the band wanted to shakeup their comfort zone, so instead of working with longtime friend Dennis Hill(producer of Drive A's 2009 debut Loss of Desire) the band recorded the albumin two parts. The first session was recorded on analog equipment to tape at1974 Studios in SilverLake with Dave Cobb andthe second session took place at Sunset Sound with Julian Raymond. Despite theband's "Fuck You" attitude towards concepts like conformity andfitting in with a "scene," Mascolo mentions that a current ofpositive energy courses through the album's veins. "There is a positivemessage at the end of every song," he admitted. "The idea of singingabout a negative subject can sometimes be therapeutic, but most of the time itbecomes cliché and loses the original meaning." "Revolt!" isabout Mascolo's travels abroad, specifically in Europe, last summer. "It seemed more like a community over there," the singermused. "There is a real lack of community here, people are just so aboutthemselves, but it's not like that overseas." The title track "Let'sHave a Wreck" is another personal song that lays its cards face up on thetable. Mascolo revealed that the song is about "having an addiction todestroying situations or relationships," a construct that all of Drive A'sfans are able to connect with.

The Californiaquartet formed after singer/guitarist Bruno Mascolo and guitarist Jason Nottran into each other one night outside of Hollywood'sTroubadour in 2006. Bassist Taylor Knowles joined the band after seeing themopen for Set Your Goals in Orlando. He became a fan based on their live performance and when the bass playerposition opened, he got in touch through the wonders of social networking andsecured his slot in the rhythm section.

Drive A has steadily built a following of fans bytouring with the likes of Alkaline Trio, The Used, Atreyu, Bullet For MyValentine and Escape the Fate over the past two years. It's the band's onstagepower that has attracted an alliance of kids that continue to multiply withevery tour. Nott summed up the band's relationship with their fans and thecrowds, saying, "We're a breath of fresh air for them. We're only a coupleyears older than the kids listening and they can relate."

Drive A's hungry guitar snarl meshes with powerchords that take up residence in your head for weeks at a time and surprisinglymature songwriting that reveals equal parts pathos and animosity towards thestatus quo. The World in Shambles is proof that Drive A are well on their way.
