You can now preview another track from The Elves Of Heaven, “Hard Times On 34th Street” which isn’t your father’s happy Christmas song, rather taking a not from the pages of The Pogues’ Christmas classic “Fairytale Of New York”.

The group’s frontman Martin Clancy describes the track:

"Father Christmas disillusioned, unemployed, a crack head…just another bum for the cops to move on…now there are hard times on 34th street. Inspired by the great movie ‘A Miracle on 34th Street’ and drawing on the unfulfilled hopes of ‘A Fairytale of New York", "Hard Times on 34th St" sees our white bearded hero down on his luck and high on cocaine in modern day Manhattan."

Sick Puppies recently stopped by Last.fm to do four acoustic songs, "All The Same", "Odd One", "Maybe", and "You're Going Down" for the site's Discover Sessions. The band were also interviewed by Last.fm and talked about their transition from Rock to Pop radio, their songwriting technique, and the first records they owned. You can watch the interview here: http://bit.ly/gxD0Vw

Sick Puppies released their third studio album, Tri-Polar last year and just recently released the third single off the album, "Maybe."

Robyn stopped by The Tonight Show before Thanksgiving to treat her fans to an electrifying performance of her hit single, “Dancing On My Own.” The track appears on Robyn’s new album, Body Talk, available via Cherrytree Records on iTunes and Amazon now.

With the scent of fresh paint in the air after a brand new launch of, well, just about everything, it seems we may have a brilliant newcomer to the Canadian pop music scene. Ontario-raised and Montreal-residing Ben Wilkins released his new EP, "Back Of My Head" just last week to an unsuspecting global online audience.

While Wilkins brings a certain degree of familiarity in this piano-based pop delight, there is something a bit more distinct and unusual about his music that has really drawn us in. It may be the comprehensive use of strings and horns, the quirky lyrics, the doubled up vocals, or the cinematic song structure (could easily fit into the 'I Heart Huckabees' soundtrack), but one thing is certain: Ben Wilkins makes you feel good. Really, really good.

A song that incorporates Wilkins' minty fresh vocals with intricately arranged strings, brass, winds, and orchestral percussion, "Through To You" captures the best elements of multiple genres and puts them in a warm melting pot of delicious treats. The video (also doubling as the splash page to his website), does a wonderful job of capturing your attention, while keeping things simple in a single room with a stationary camera.

We have fallen in love with Montreal over the past year ourselves, so when Ben Wilkins was brought to our attention via one of our Canadian friends, we had to take a listen. Oh Canada, how jealous we are of your beautifully cohesive and collaborative music scene!

THE BOOKS ANNOUNCE REMASTERED, REPACKAGED REISSUES OF ALL PREVIOUS ALBUMS

CDs AND LPs TO BE RELEASED WINTER 2011 ON TEMPORARY RESIDENCE LTD.

ALL TRACKS REMASTERED FROM ORIGINAL MIXES BY THE BOOKS' NICK ZAMMUTO

Masterminds of found sound, the Books, have announced the reissue of their entire full length catalog. Re-mastered from the original mixes by Nick Zammuto of the Books, CD and LP version will be released on Temporary Residence Ltd. The albums will be released in chronological order starting with Thought for Food on January 25, continuing with The Lemon of Pink on February 22, and finishing with Lost and Safe on March 22. Each album will be packaged in completely new artwork and will include a book of lyrics for the first time.

The band has taken the last two months to rigorously tour North America in support of their latest album, The Way Out, filling auditoriums with meditative instrumentation and video installations that are both overwhelmingly beautiful and downright eerie. The sometimes bizarre and intense arrangements are complimented by videos of meticulously edited found footage often relating directly to the musical compositions. The Books have developed a clever and hypnotic live show that has captured the attention and imagination of increasingly large and broad audience, making these reissues ideal for new and old fans alike. Most recently selling out Carnegie Hall's renowned Zankel Hall in New York City, the band conclude their North American tour this week with dates on the west coast, supported by The Black Heart Procession. After Christmas, the Books will return to the stage with their largest Australian tour yet.

ALL TIME LOW’S ZACK MERRICK
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH
KILL BRAND APPAREL
LAUNCHES NEW
‘AMERRICKAN DREAM’ LINE ON NOVEMBER 30!

On November 30th All Time Low bassist Zack Merrick will launch his latest line of AMERRICKAN DREAM clothing in partnership with Kill Brand Apparel (www.killbrand.com).

More info will be announced soon, but in the meantime please “like” the AMMERICKAN DREAM Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/A-Merrick-an-by-Zack-Merrick/176613089022107 and visit www.killbrand.com.

Kill Brand Apparel is a company that seeks to provide a unified creative response to a new generation who let their passions determine the way they live their lives. Many barriers have been broken over the past twenty years, and today young people grow up in an environment where their creativity can take them wherever they want to go. The people who do what they love are taking their skills further than ever. Kill Brand is intended to be an expression of the burning desire to push the limits that unifies creative people in the realms of art, music, and sports, and creates one all encompassing culture. Like artists, musicians, and athletes who pursue their goals with incredible dedication, Kill Brand employs that same type of love and enthusiasm in an attempt to create clothing that reflects the passions that make us, as a generation, who we are.

In 2001, Kill Brand was created by musician, Jonny Smith. While on tour in the band Tokyo Rose, Jonny ran into a problem -- no clean t-shirts. With a hot pink T-shirt and black spray paint in hand, Jonny randomly graffitied K-I-L-L across the front of the T, and took the stage. This fresh trend took punk rock fans by storm. Before long, Jonny was designing, spray-painting, and selling his T's out of the back of the tour van. As demand grew, Jonny invested in a screen printing machine (that he used in his studio apartment) to keep up with demand. Jonny personally screen-printed every item by hand with his signature, KILL. Kill Brand's notoriety grew as Jonny left Tokyo Rose and pursued promoting the apparel at music festivals across the U.S.

Now Kill Brand designs are requested by stylists from GQ Magazine, featured in Alternative Press, Maxim, and many more. Kill Brand is currently available in Tilly's, D-tox, Zumiez, and over 200 retail stores worldwide.

Young hip-hop mogul, Soulja Boy, has released the official music video for the hit single "Speakers Going Hammer." The music video starts off with a peaceful and quiet city shown in black and white, but is soon disrupted as Soulja Boy arrives with his entourage to bring some excitement to the neighborhood. "Speakers Gonig Hammer," which has been performed live on numerous talk shows and the BET Hip Hop Music Awards, can now be seen on VEVO.

WIN WIN (XXXCHANGE, DEVLIN & GHOSTDAD) SIGN TO VICE MUSIC

FIRST SINGLE "RELEASERPM" OUT JANUARY 18TH, FULL SELF-TITLED ALBUM DUE FEBRUARY 15TH

Accomplished producer and in-demand remixer Alex "XXXchange" Epton has come together with lifelong friend Chris Devlin (of Devlin & Darko) and video-collage artist/producer Ghostdad to form WIN WIN. The self-titled project on Vice Music serves as a unique model for the future of electronic music performance, having sprouted from the desire to supplement the auditory stimuli with a visual element that shifts with the mood of the music. WIN WIN's musical efforts are manifested visually by Brooklyn-based video collagist, Ghostdad, who dredges pop-media archives and re-assembles clips live, juxtaposing moving images for optimum effect.

XXXchange first made national headlines as a founding member of electro-rap trendsetting group Spankrock in 2005. With so many sound-alikes popping up in the wake of their debut album Yoyoyoyoyo, Alex refined his approach and developed a reputation for his minimal, disco-tinged instrumental work. Few have had the opportunity to remix such a diverse, credible array of musicians as XXXchange, who's resume includes official interpretations for Thom Yorke, The Death Set, Bjork and many, many more. Alex has since achieved a full-on songwriting credit for The Kills while penning half of Kele's eponymous debut earlier this year. Devlin won success as a member of popular DJ duo Devlin & Darko while also contributing heavily to the Spankrock album as well.

WIN WIN, the self-titled debut album slated for a February 15th release on Vice Music, is an elastic demonstration of hyperactive yet tactful electro, anchored by the single "RELEASERPM" featuring Lizzie Bougatsos of Gang Gang Dance contributing wafer-thin vocals to the layers of synthetic instrumentation. Other guests include Alexis of The Hot Chip and former partner-in-crime Naeem of Spankrock.

KarmaloopTV sits down with The New Boyz to talk about their evolution as artists and what to expect from their upcoming album “Too Cool To Care” dropping this December. Would love if you could post up!

The video for Theophilus London’s second Green Label Sound single “Flying Overseas” feat. Devonté Hynes & Solange Knowles, was shot on a beach near Malibu, CA. “I wanted the video to be less concept-y and very minimal,” said London. “A very personal and emotional visual piece.” The outcome is full of psychedelic elements. “The technique for creating the datamosh effects was different from anything our crew had done before,” said director Tim Nackashi. “We filmed Theophilus' face and fed that into the computer as data. It was a great experiment. Theophilus is a true artist.” Download “Flying Overseas” & “Humdrum Town” for free here.

Ninja Tune VJ Mox creates a video collage set to a minimix of tracks from Leo Zero's Disconnect album on Strut. The video mixes in news images from the UK during the late '70s and '80s, from a rubbish collection strike in 1979, the mayhem of a Celtic vs Rangers on-pitch invasion in 1980 and the Brixton riots of 1981 to a bizarre '70s attempt to smuggle vinyl-shaped pot cakes in record sleeves from Jamaica. Images of Leo's work throughout his career pepper the visuals including his celebrated days as a resident at Soulsonic in London to his work as a member of A Mountain of One.

NYC/Hoboken artist Jason Gluskin will showcases his vibrant, music and cityscape paintings at his first New York City solo show, dubbed Urban Expressions, this December. The month-long exhibition will be hosted at Midoma Gallery. The show kicks off with a reception party, featuring an acoustic set by singer-songwriter Jacyln Dima and handcrafted jewelry by Steve Reily on December 9th from 6 pm – 8 pm.
In the past year Gluskin’s work has been on display throughout New York City and New Jersey.

He has sold many original acrylic paintings and prints, and co-created a mural at the Hoboken Medical Center Pediatrics Ward with local students. His signature style has garnered press in television, film, print and online media. (See Press and Video). Jason strives to capture the dynamic energy of music and his surroundings, on canvas, in a unique and explosive way. “The city’s brightness and positive energy are a dominant theme in my work”, says Gluskin. He has been dubbed a “Rock ‘N’ Roll” painter by NYC area media.

Jason’s painting reflects his impressions of Rock, Jazz, Blues, Pop, Country and Punk. Some compositions are representations of real musicians, including The Band with Bob Dylan which was profiled in The Bands’ bass player Rick Danko’s website and one featuring Bruce Springsteen which was showcased on the arts page of NJ.com.
“Music fills my world.

Certain songs or albums will strike a chord or emotion that I need to project visually. The compositions of famous musicians are imaginary, though I watch performance footage to capture the artists personas. That energy transcends all my other work.

Australian rockers Juke Kartel have released the music video for "If Only," the first single from their US debut album Levolution (iTunes). The band told AOL Music that filming the video "was an amazing experience - from skipping around rattlesnakes in the desert, to amazing conversations with the homeless in downtown LA, to the beauty of the California beaches. The concept of searching for our instruments during the video actually helped us rediscover the song, thinking back to when it was written as well as reliving our story up to this day."

In addition, the band recently premiered the track "Brightest Star" exclusively on iTunes. More than half of the proceeds from each sale will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in support of breast cancer research. Visit JukeKartel.com or find them on Facebook and Twitter for more information and the latest news and updates.

We first had the pleasure of championing this act a few years ago around his video parody of Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air where Shad plays the part of Will Smith. Since then, Shad's career has picked up quickly, now with a new record TSOL out on Black Box Music in Canada and Decon Records in the US.

Having just finished up a North American tour with K-OS, and heading off to Europe in a few weeks (see dates on your left), Shad's style of hip-hop is far from traditional. Incorporating elements of humor, irony, intellect, and instrumental brilliance into both his live show and recordings, Shad's splash has already hit home with the likes of Pitchfork, URB, and OkayPlayer to name a few, but we still like to think of ourselves as the true discoverers of this Canadian hip-hop anomaly ;)
A big shout out to Shad's bandmate, DJ T-LO who has a slew of awards for his scratching abilities across the globe and to his management at The Faculty Of who are just amazing people.

We saw Shad premier his new video for the single, "We, Myself, and I" in Toronto during TIFF week and can't seem to get enough of it! Check it out for yourself, along with the Fresh Prince parody titled "The Old Prince".

Good Charlotte recently stopped by Fuel TV's The Daily Habit to rock the stage with a live performance of "Like It's Her Birthday." Yesterday Norah Jones released ...Featuring, a compilation album featuring duets that the singer has done throughout her career with artists in almost every genre. "We cut it live with her... it was way faster than it was supposed to be but it was great, her energy is just great," Norah shared. CHROMEO COLLABORATE WITH ELLY JACKSON OF LA ROUX FOR "HOT MESS" REDUX

REMIXES BY DUCK SAUCE AND TIGA TO COME, TWO MONTH NORTH AMERICAN TOUR BEGINS IN JANUARY

Chromeo have teamed up with La Roux's Elly Jackson for a dynamic electro-funk duet, "Hot Mess." The original version appears on Chromeo's latest album, Business Casual (Big Beat/Atlantic), but Jackson took a shine to the Canadian duo and offered to lend vocals to the new and recently completed redux. "Hot Mess" marks a rare appearance for Jackson outside of her work as La Roux.

"Hot Mess" itself is an ice-cold break up number, not unlike classic '80s duets by Prince & Sheena Easton, the Pet Shop Boys & Dusty Springfield, or The Human League. "Hot Mess" will be released as a single complete with remixes by Turbo Recordings founder Tiga and Duck Sauce who recently dominated international charts with the single, "Barbra Streisand." Chromeo recently worked with Parisian design house Surface To Air to produce the stunning video for "Hot Mess" which premiered online earlier this week, receiving attention from mainstream sites and taste-making blogs alike. Carrying the momentum into the New Year, the duo of Dave 1 and P-Thugg will hit the road for a string of US dates this winter.

LONDON (November 17, 2010) - Today, Converse releases the dynamic music video to the original song 'Didn't Know What Love Was' - a genre-blending collaboration featuring outstanding British artists Bernard Sumner from Bad Lieutenant, New Order and Joy Division, Alexis and Joe from Hot Chip and Hot City.

Directed by renowned Sweden-based Video Director Andreas Nilsson (MGMT 'Flash Delirium', Miike Snow 'Rabbit', Fever Ray 'If I Had a Heart', Yeasayer 'Madder Red') the video has, as Nilsson describes it, "a dry sense of humour, combined with a rather frantic visual idea."

Nilsson continues, "The cast, besides the artists, were a bunch of different look-a-likes who are probably better called 'kind-of-likes'. One reason for this idea was that I wanted to explore with body doubles and contrasting shapes and sizes a story that felt connected to the larger theme of connectivity. Another reason was that I just found the image of a growing/shrinking Alexis very funny."

"We are excited about this visionary music video that brings to life the original track "Didn't Know What Love Was" through a journey with Bernard Sumner, Hot Chip and Hot City. As Converse continues to celebrate music, collaborating with innovative directors like Nilsson tells a deeper story that supports our on-going support of both iconic and emerging talent. The music video gives the artists the unique creative opportunity to express themselves via a globally accessible platform. The new video and original track are both available for free download and demonstrate the incredible dynamism of the UK music scene", said Geoff Cottrill, Chief Marketing Officer of Converse.

On working with the artists involved in the track Nilsson comments: "Didn't Know What Love Was' is the first video I have created for Converse's music project, a project that celebrates and supports the greatest art form since pyramid building - music. For the 'Didn't Know What Love Was' track, Converse has brought together truly amazing artists. Working with Bernard Sumner of Joy Division and New Order was like hanging out with my own personal history and Hot Chip and Hot City are both contemporary favorites that I listen to when I work in the garden and dance with my dog."

Converse's year-long campaign celebrating the incomparable British music scene has been championed by the release of the hot new track 'Didn't Know What Love Was' with remixes by Hot City, Chew Lips and Hudson Mohawk.

To support the track, Converse commissioned three short films featuring Bernard Sumner, Alexis and Joe from Hot Chip and Hot City, which are all available now, along with today's music video, for music fans globally to download at www.converse.co.uk and authorized Converse websites around the world.

Today OFF!, the LA-based punk/hardcore quartet comprised of Keith Morris (Black Flag/Circle Jerks), Steven McDonald (Redd Kross), Dimitri Coats (Burning Brides), and Mario Rubalcaba (Earthless/Hot Snakes/Rocket From the Crypt), are offering up First Four EPs as a free stream on Think Indie, where you can also purchase the album digitally a week before you can get it anywhere else. Falling just shy of 18 minutes, the 16 song set is a cavalcade of raw intensity and blistering tempos (only two songs crack the 90 second mark). The few mp3 leaks that precede today's stream have been surfaced in such esteemed outlets as Pitchfork (who named the track "Upside Down" as "Best New Music" last week), Fader, Spinner, Brooklyn Vegan, and just about everywhere else you can think of.

While the recorded output of the band is nothing to scoff at, the multitudes of fans who have seen the band at their appearances at CMJ, Fun Fun Fun Fest, FYF Fest, Riot Fest, and their historic TV appearance on Last Call with Carson Daly will attest that nothing matches the ferocious onslaught of the band in the live arena. As the 7" box set nears its release on December 14, the band have announced an appearance at the FYF Christmas party supporting No Age and The Soft Pack at the Glasshouse in Pamona, CA (see details below).
