DMV Artists Benjamin Rocket & Kelow Collaborate To Present "Ice Cream”
Electro-Hop Duo, Benjamin Rocket releases “Ice Cream”—a highly energized track featuring label mate (Baby Dinosaurs & Co.), Kelow. Produced by Van She—an Electro Pop band from Sydney Australia—“Ice Cream” is a cover song of the New Young Pony Club. Definitely an attention grabber, “Ice Cream” cleverly fuses upbeat rap lyrics over an electro-rock sounding track.

Far from the typical style of “DMV rap”, Benjamin Rocket makes it a point to push the envelope with each of their projects by creating an unpredictable, unique sound. “Ice Cream” is the perfect example of just that. There will be much more of that sound on Benjamin Rocket’s upcoming project “Private Cloud Series” which is set to be released soon! Also be on the lookout for Kelow’s “Colored Pencils” which will be released before the new year! In the meanwhile, give your ears a treat and indulge in Benjamin Rocket & Kelow's "Ice Cream".

Skrillex, AKA Sonny Moore, has had an immense, progressively successful 2010. Signed to Atlantic/Big Beat, he delivered high profile remixes for the likes of Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, and La Roux, amassing a catalogue that rivals those of the most in-demand producers. With the Skrillex name fresh in the minds of the electronic cognoscenti, Atlantic/Big Beat partnered with the ubiquitous Deadmau5 and his Mau5trap imprint to release the EP Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites exclusively on Beatport. Applying the same attention to detail that shaped his rock-oriented endeavors, Skrillex's latest foray into electronic music demonstrates a finely tuned ability to combine elements of electro, dubstep, and glitch without falling prey to divisive genre restraints.

The EP has since dominated the Beatport charts, the title track sitting at the site's #1 slot (a first for a Dubstep artist), 8 songs breaking into the top 10, and multiple tracks claiming the #1 position on several of the site's other charts At the height of Skrillex's popularity in the US and abroad, Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites was released on iTunes globally today and secured the #1 position on the dance chart almost immediately.

As pointed out in a recent issue of Billboard, the slow-burn success of Sick Puppies is a true story in artist development. Three years and six hundred shows after the release of their debut album, the hardest working trio in rock & roll is breaking through with new hit single “Maybe.” Beginning December 21st, the multi-format hit, which recently shot to No. 3 on the iTunes Rock Songs Chart, will be spotlighted as the iTunes Single of the Week.

“Maybe,” currently No. 15 on the Billboard Rock Songs Chart, No. 26 on the Top 40 Chart, No. 19 at Hot AC and Top 5 at Modern Rock, is the third single from the band’s acclaimed sophomore release, Tri-Polar (RMR/Virgin/EMI), which has sold more than quarter-million copies to date. The track’s video—a mini-movie directed by Travis Kopach (3OH!3, AFI)—features waitress Kayla Ewell (“Vampire Diaries”) and grease-monkey Tanner Novlan (“Maneater”), as well as contest winners who submitted homemade videos of “Maybe.” The music clip tells the tale of two kids’ serendipitous romance while chasing their dream by courageously leaving their small town lives and making a positive change. It can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFhRowkNrTM

The band (vocalist/guitarist Shimon Moore, bassist Emma Anzai and drummer Mark Goodwin) recently teamed up with shoe retailer Steve Madden for a promotion that sees them featured in over 90 stores nationwide and online. Fans can view a recent interview and performance shot at Madden’s studio here: http://www.stevemadden.com/music/default.aspx?artist_id=29.
Co-founded by Shim and Emma while in high school, Sick Puppies introduced themselves to the world with their “Free Hugs” video for the song “All the Same” from their debut, Dressed Up As Life. Boasting more than 63 million views on YouTube, the video was shot in a Sydney shopping mall featuring their friend Juan Mann, who held up a hand-written placard offering “Free Hugs.” In the past four years, Sick Puppies have shared stages with the likes of Nickelback, Evanescence, Deftones, Velvet Revolver, Chris Cornell, Flyleaf and many more.

Cut Copy are happy to announce the tracklisting for their upcoming LP,
“Zonoscope.” Produced by the band’s Dan Whitford, it will be released on Feb 4
in Australia, Feb 7 in Europe, and Feb 8 in North America on CD, Deluxe CD,
and 2 X Vinyl. The Deluxe CD and iTunes Deluxe Version will include a brand
new cut of the Krozm-directed documentary “Artificial Interpreter,” featuring
footage not previewed on the web episodes. In addition, the Deluxe CD will
come in a special Alter-designed box.

The iTunes pre-order for "Zonoscope" (both regular and deluxe versions) will
start on Tuesday, December 21, and people who pre-order will receive a
previously unreleased mix of “Take Me Over.”

Scion A/V demonstrates their expert musical foresight by teaming up with On the Prowl Records (headed by Jacques Renault and Marcos Cabral of Runaway) to return with another installment of gently reinterpreted HI-NRG/Freestyle from Bay Area native Corinne, dropping December 13th. On Scion A/V Remix: Corinne - "Dream A Little Dream", one could understandably mistake the leading original for a single released two decades ago. Producer Josh Anzano crafts a sonic landscape that transports the listener to an early-'90s nightclub, near perfect dance montage material that Corinne adorns with vocals that conjure top-40 hits by Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam or Exposè. It's this adherence to authentic production and mixing techniques that make the subsequent remixes so interesting.

For their take, Belgian duo Mugwump darkens the skies over Corrine's whimsical electro picnic with ominous pads while vocals remain at the forefront. Jacques Renault and Marcos Cabral come together as Runaway to enhance the pace with a catchy arpeggiator flip of the synth, and Brooklynite Midnight Magic lays down a slap bass line and punctuates it with faux-horns for his disco house effort that is only one-upped by Harkin & Raney's NYC-centric, handclap-laden throwback.

In its ongoing effort to show support for the arts, Scion covers all production, licensing and distribution costs for the A/V projects, and all proceeds go directly back to the label and artists involved.

Scion A/V Remix: Corinne- "Dream A Little Dream"is also available for streaming on Scion's new lifestyle portal, ScionAV.com and via the Scion AV Radio App for the iPhone ®, iPod Touch ®, and iPad ®.

Two of hip-hops most accomplished personalities, Nottz & Asher Roth join forces for a dream-team collaboration of the most charitable variety, the Rawth EP, available for free on Monday, December 27th. After meeting while Asher Roth was completing debut album Asleep In The Bread Aisle, the two cemented a hyper-productive working relationship during the recording of Nottz's You Need This Music. The MCs decided to make an artistic donation to the hip-hop community by releasing a jaw-dropping collection of songs with stellar verses and original bangers from Nottz at no charge.

The Rawth EP features verses from both spitters, both of whom riff off of each other with wild abandon, effortlessly writing the contained material. In many ways, this release embodies the essence of hip-hop by completely disregarding convention, subscribing to the new model of internet distribution. The Rawth EP is fun, free and for the fans.

Little Tybee has been at the forefront of our minds over the past year. Having discovered them from a slew of different people within the art and music scenes in New York and Georgia, this crew of Southern wonders have been busy bees, preparing for their new album, 'Humorous To Bees' to be released in late February 2011.

Incorporating a slide guitar style that will blow your mind, delicate yet captivating cinematic strings, a simplistic yet driving rhythm section, and mindboggling vocal perfection, Little Tybee have a way of warming your soul and brightening your day, almost like an adult lullaby. The band encompasses the hospitality that the South is so famous for, as well as the warmth and space we big Northern City dwellers miss out on. One of the many reasons we love this band is their ability to take the listener into their sound, so much so you can feel it in your core.
While their video for the album's first single, 'Nero', has been available since Summer, The Lovely Hearts Club is extremely excited to re-introduce the single to the masses in anticipation of Little Tybee's new album.

Rise Records is pleased to announce its partnership with UK based band, SHARKS. Keeping with the bands D.I.Y ethics, they have started their own record label "Velvet Scene" and will team up with Rise Records to release a 14 song album entitled, “'The Joys Of Living 2008-2010”. The album will showcase the bands first 2 years worth of recorded material ('Shallow Waters' and 'Show Of Hands' EP's and the 'Common Grounds' single) as well as 2 brand new songs. Available in LP/CD/Digital formats April 5th in the US, Canada and Australia/NZ.

MTV Shows
The folks over at MTV News have been counting down their favorite songs of the year, and they have just unveiled their number six pick as Robyn's "Dancing On My Own." The track which appears on Robyn's new album Body Talk was just nominated for a "Best Dance Recording" GRAMMY® and recently closed out an intense episode of the CW's Gossip Girl. "I don't know why this song wasn't the biggest hit of 2010, honestly," explains MTV's Jim Cantiello. "It's like the perfect pop song." Watch more of the MTV News staff comment on why they chose to include Robyn in their Top 10.

MTV isn't the only outlet to include Robyn on a best of 2010 countdown. Spinner, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Spin, New York Magazine and NPR have all deemed Body Talk one of this year's favorites. "As her stilettos stomped across broken glass, the Swedish former teen star outclassed all comers, pairing soaring synths, thundering drums and emotion-soaked lyrics, showing sympathy for Britney-esque fembots and declaring her indestructible independence," declares Spinner.com. "Body Talk is epic pop for epic times. Get on board. Buckle up."

Katy Perry joined Nicki Minaj, Keri Hilson, Paramore, Sugarland, and host Kathy Griffin for the 2010 VH1 Divas Salute the Troops concert this past weekend. The stunning pop sensation performed her hit singles “Firework” and “California Gurls,” along with a special duet of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” with Nicki Minaj. Fans can check out Katy’s performances and the entire Salute the Troops Divas special on VH1.com.

Daft Punk - Derezzed (Breakdown Remix) by Breakdown
Breakdown got caught up in all this Daft Punk, Tron & Disney Mania so decided they needed to rip Derezzed a new asshole. This one is a 50Hz explosion in your face!!! The stabs and tech percussion drive harder then a road raging redneck in an 18 wheeler and with a massive drop like this, your dance floor better be equipped with airbags!! These crazy LA-base brothers have been on a roll as of late with support from artists such as David Guetta, Will.I.Am and Dada Life on their latest tracks. This coupled with crazy gigs in 2010 at such events as The Electric Daisy Carnival and Monster Massive along with their consistent flow of fresh bangers on the regular is makes them a group to keep your eyes on well into 2011.

After invading airwaves worldwide with Duck Sauce's whistling hit "Barbra Streisand," releasing their first full-length LPs, and packing out Brooklyn Bowl for their three-year label anniversary party (guest starring a Kanye West fellow you may have heard of), indie powerhouse Fool's Gold is back doing what they do best: curating the most exciting new singles from clubland and beyond.

First up is the ultra-catchy "Keep Up" by Treasure Fingers, a modern day freestyle singalong featuring newcomer Haley Small and Treasure Fingers' own sparkling vocoder work. It comes backed by a funky house mix from dance legend Kenny Dope and a turbocharged electro version by Jackson of Warp Records fame.

On the other end of the electronic spectrum is Jokers Of The Scene's "Joking Victim," a hypnotic, nine-and-a-half minute stomper coming hot on the heels of JOTS' industrial-inspired remix of Salem's "Asia." Remixes by DFA's Shit Robot and Vin Sol turn up the drum machines for maximum disco enjoyment.

The Jokers themselves put it all in context with their deep new "Don't Become Another Victim Yourself" mix, premiered today by The FADER.

These tracks couldn't be more diverse or addictive, and provide further proof of why A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs' Fool's Gold is the most consistent record label around. Grab the new Treasure Fingers and JOTS singles on Beatport, iTunes and everywhere else fine music is sold. Stay tuned for new tunes, parties and more from FG!

UK- Exit Calm were selected to play Pretty Green's first club night this past weekend at The Garage in Islington. Pretty Green is the new full apparel line by Liam Gallagher and the party included a full DJ set by Gallagher as well as Andy Bell (Ride, Oasis), Paul Gallagher, Eddie Piller and Jamie Skillz. Band photo from the event is above. Northern England's Exit Calm have just released their debut self titled album (available in the U.S. on Sonic Unyon Records) produced by Paddy Byrne (Unkle, The Hours). The group have garnered much acclaim in their homeland including top print tastemaker Uncut Magazine who proclaimed “Exit Calm are the best British Indie band we’ve heard in years.”

With only an aim to create emotive music, Exit Calm channel a wall of immense and anthemic sound that evokes the mood and spirit of 90’s shoegaze heroes like the millennium never happened. However not a nostalgia act, hipster music site Drowned In Sound said that “Exit Calm are so far out in front of the rest of the competition at present it's frightening. In fact, you can almost imagine bands forming in their wake as we speak.”

Buffalo Tom is excited to announce that it will be releasing its eighth studio album, Skins, on February 15th, 2011. Produced by the band in their hometown of Boston, MA, and mixed by long-time friends Paul Q. Kolderie (who produced the band’s breakout third album, 1992’s Let Me Come Over) and Tom Polce, Skins is the follow up to 2007’s acclaimed Three Easy Pieces, which brought Buffalo Tom back into the spotlight after a nine-year hiatus. Skins is the first release on the band’s own Scrawny Records via a worldwide partnership with The Orchard, and features guest Tanya Donnelly of Belly, Breeders and Throwing Muses fame singing on the song “Don’t Forget Me.” Besides the standard CD, a deluxe edition will be available with demos and b-sides, as well as a vinyl version with a download card featuring the additional songs. The first song from the album, “Arise, Watch,” debuted this week on Stereogum.

Download and share Buffalo Tom’s “Arise, Watch” from Skins [Scrawny Records]:
Skins is everything you want from a Buffalo Tom album – its rock pummels and its ballads ache – and it reminds you why they hold such a strong place in so many people’s hearts, including Jon Stewart, who had the band play on the final airing of his late-night syndicated talk show in the late 90s. Still comprised of the original trio of Bill Janovitz (guitars and vocals), Chris Colbourn (bass and vocals) and Tom Maginnis (drums), the songwriting is as sharp and poignant today as it ever was. From the signature interplay of Janovitz and Colbourn’s vocals to the scorching guitars and rolling thunderous drum arrangements, few other bands have been able to master depth and sensitivity at such volumes.
Writer/actor Mike O’Malley, whose star has recently risen higher as a result of his work on Glee, loves the band so much that he asked to write the bio for Skins. In it, he writes of the moment he discovered the band when they released 1994’s Big Red Letter Day:

“Here were men my age making music about things that mattered — how we navigate our lives amidst the messes we get handed and the messes we’ve made – and they were doing it with an authentic sound that had heft, texture and drive. They did what we want our rock and roll to do – distill potent observations about life and disguise any sentimentality — eliminate it – by backing up the observations with guitars and drums.”
He continues:

“And for those who fell for the Buffalo Tom of “Taillights Fade,” “Soda Jerk,” “Tree House” and “Summer,” this document exists, in part to proclaim that Buffalo Tom’s new album Skins is worthy of your attention. It has all the things that Buffalo Tom does well. Songs about situations and subjects that the average human can relate to — with all the gravity you’d expect from a band that still has something to say. Throughout Skins, Buffalo Tom is unafraid to go deeper than the surface layer, and they spend much of this record bringing forth warnings, laments and admonishments.”

The seven piece Portland group AgesandAges has announced the release of their debut album, Alright You Restless, February 15th 2011 on Knitting Factory Records. Produced by Kevin Robinson (Viva Voice, Blue Giant) at Amorelphonics in Portland in 8 days, the album was performed almost entirely live with 7 voices sung into one microphone. The result is a dream-filled interpretation of campfire pop with every member effortlessly displaying an exuberant amount of talent layered over vocal harmonies that seem to wrap around each song like a warm blanket.

Started in early 2009 by Tim Perry, of previous Portland rock band Pseudosix, AgesandAges' live show is a perfect combination of musicians with heartfelt talent and symbiosis interaction of vocal ability. Amidst the apathetic enthusiasm of the Northwest music lover, with tightly crossed arms standing listlessly in the back of the room, silently appreciating their favorite band, AgesandAges has been able to break through their hard candy shells to find the sweet center of every Northwesterner within earshot. Thus creating an enthusiastic fan base ready and willing to dance, clap, and sing along. With their debut album and plans for future touring, expect AgesandAges to capture an entire nation of indie rock fans.

Over the past few weeks leading up to the release of her latest album ...Featuring, Norah Jones debuted a series short video vignettes that talk about each collaboration on the record, ranging from the legendary artists Ray Charles, Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton to the Foo Fighters, Outkast, and indie darlings M. Ward and Ryan Adams. Now these clips have been combined into a long-form video, making for a fascinating and cohesive new look at the inspiration that went in to the recording of each track.

Norah will perform the track "Bull Rider" from the album this Thursday night, 12/2, on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, which airs on CBS at 12:35 am Eastern. "Bull Rider" was recorded as a duet with jazz singer Sasha Dobson - a former bandmate of Norah's in various side projects - and was originally sung by the late Johnny Cash. ...Featuring is available now, in stores and online through Amazon or NorahJones.com.

Philadelphia duo Sun Airway are going kind of heavy with this, in spite of how light the song may be. "Oh, Naoko" is shimmery, but it sounds like Naoko might be having a rough go of it—the weight of the world—even the tiniest things—seems to break her. No worries, though. This is a love number with a plight to save her from just those things. When Houses gets his Chicagoan hands on it, he adds playful keys and apple crunches, making the notion of lassoing the moonshine for someone a little bit more whimsical than a quick fix for Naoko's trepidation about her nighttime shadow.

ARSENAL release their album’s title track LOTUK. Singer-songwriter Shawn Smith (him of Seattle veterans Brad and Satchel) guests on this throughout shimmering tune, with a pulsating Kim Deal-like bass line, trancelike backing vocals and a deliciously naïve synthesizer loop that will keep you humming all day long.
Again, it comes action packed with a trio of quality remixes: Sasha Crnobrnja of fellow NYC hipsters IN FLAGRANTI speeds up the vocal over heavy Moroderesque arpeggios, a cluster of beats from a battered Roland and lots of cowbell action.
