Toronto, ON - The alternative rock pop sensation Foster the People is returning stateside for another run of sold-out shows just as their debut album Torches is certified Gold in Canada by CRIA this week. This proves that Canadian fans are the best, as we are the first territory in the world to hit Gold with this album. On the heels of their Summer sold-out shows at Toronto’s Lee’s Palace and Mod Club, the band returns, selling out both the upcoming Oct. 1 show at Sound Academy in Toronto and the two shows at Vancouver’s Commodore Ballroom on Oct. 10. The band reached No.1 on BDS Canada’s Modern Rock Chart with “Pumped Up Kicks”, and have been breaking their own iTunes records every week, bringing the song to a digital Double Platinum sales status by CRIA. “Pumped Up Kicks” continues to succeed at radio as it crosses over to multi formats, reaching Top 10 at both HOT AC and CHR radio, according to BDS Canada. The track is showing no signs of slowing down as it is # 2 most increased song at Top 40 radio this week, # 7 most increased at HOT AC and # 5 most increase overall, reported by Mediabase. Mark F, Cubbie and Mark P continue the trend as their newest single “Helena Beat” is currently #3 on Canada’s BDS Modern Rock Chart. Outside of Canada, Foster the People has wide recognition and acclaim following their highly reviewed performances at SXSW, Coachella and Lollapalooza.
