Montreal, (QC)-French-singing rockersMalajube have announced the U.S. release of their new full-lengthLa Caverne via MB3 Records (Royskopp, GavinFriday). The digital version of the album will be released on July12th with a physical release date of September13th. The band who recently performed in New York withThe Besnard Lakes and Wintersleep have been killing it withmainstream English audiences despite their adherence to singing inFrench. The band deliver music that veers from progressive pop todance floor centric indie rock, complex but always catchy. The highdegree of songwriting led early press to lovingly tag them as the Frenchlanguage cousin of Arcade Fire.
La Caverne is the band’sfourth full-length album following highly regarded predecessors LeCompte Complet (2004), Trompe-L'Oeil (2007)and Labyrinthes (2009). Members Thomas Augustin,Francis Mineau, Mathieu Cournoyer and Julien Mineau self-produced the albumwith long-time collaborator Ryan Battistuzzi mixing. The album’stitle (the cavern in english) is taken from the studio the album wasrecorded in Quebec which the band says was a "geodesic modern cavern, withmultiple triangular faces." The album has wowed press in earlyreviews such as Pitchfork who said “the band has exhibited a knackfor fusing psychedelia, prog- and classic-rock, disco, and new wave intoexuberant, easily grasped big-tent indie pop.” Chromewaves saidthat “La caverne is leaner and more focused than eitherTrompe-l’oeil or Labyrinthes and also possibly their mostimmediate.”
