(March 21, 2011 – Toronto, ON) – Britain’s hottest new band, The Vaccines, announce their first North American tour with the Arctic Monkeys this summer. Coming off the heels of a highly successful U.K. release, in which the band charted at # 4, The Vaccines will bring their unabashedly, energetic guitar- rock anthems to fans starting May 17th in Washington D.C. ending a 13 date run at Los Angeles Hollywood Palladium. This handful of tour dates will also include the bands North American release date of their critically acclaimed debut album What Did You Expect From The Vaccines? out May 31st on Columbia Records. The Vaccines will make their American network television debut on the Late Show with David Letterman on Tuesday, June 7th.

With a top 5 U.K charted record and a second NME cover on stands now, The Vaccines are poised to be this year’s most watched act. After delivering a record that was given 4 star reviews from Q, MOJO, Uncut, Artrocker, The Sun, Observer and more, the band will return to the U.K. for a headlining tour this March. These dates follow the bands recent spot on the illustrious NME Awards Tour, a privilege awarded only to some of the U.K.’s top acts.

The news of the added tour dates follows The Vaccines smashing debut at this year’s SXSW Music Festival. The Vaccines kicked off a week of performances with an AOL Pop-Up show on Wednesday afternoon. Winning over fans one gig at a time, the band played shows at Spin’s annual Stubb’s day-party, Brooklyn Vegan at Emo’s, Club Deville and a handful of additional notable gigs.

It was during these crucial set of gigs that Greg Knot at the Chicago Tribune commented on the band’s vigorous impact: “The Vaccines, delivered the kind of set that should be required by law at music festivals with 2,000 bands clamouring for attention.” While Entertainment Weekly raved that the band’s set was a “strong and cohesive performance,” the Toronto Star dubbed them “white hot” and called their shows “disciplined, energetic and toweringly melodic,” and the Star Tribune noted that “The Vaccines certainly gave their hype some credibility.”
