In addition to activities taking place during the South by Southwest Music Festival, the month long celebration will include indie music takeovers across several of MTV’s franchises – including the PUSH (Play Until Someone Hears) program and Unplugged (MTV), Sucker Free (MTV2), Deans List (mtvU), exclusive indie artist performances, video premieres, music video blocks and more.

As announced earlier this week, Donald Glover will host the “2011 mtvU Woodie Awards” – the only night of music where college students honor their favorite emerging artists with a chunk of wood. As the show’s first-ever host, this triple-threat actor, writer and musician will uphold the “Woodies” college-party meets kick-ass concert atmosphere with his comedic edge, pop culture wit, and his love of indie music. The “2011 mtvU Woodie Awards” will air live on Wednesday night, March 16 at 12am (Live ET/ Tape delayed PT) on MTV, MTV2 and mtvU. As previously announced, Foo Fighters, Wiz Khalifa, Sleigh Bells, Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (OFWGKTA) and Two Door Cinema Club will perform LIVE at the Woodies. Matt & Kim, Lupe Fiasco, Dev, Chiddy Bang, Skylar Grey and MTV’s Liz Lee from “My Life as Liz” will present the Awards, handing over chunks of wood to the 2011 winners. Additionally, MNDR will keep the night going as the Woodies’ house DJ.
