January 28, 2011 // New York, NY – Ontario’s First Rate People kick off 2011 with a new single, “Funny Games”, and have announced a spring tour with Born Ruffians throughout Ontario and Montreal. The self-produced single is available now via the band’s Bandcamp site here. First Rate People cite the Michael Haneke film of the same name as a major influence, along with Interpol’s Turn On The Bright Lights, and The Dream. An eclectic mix that by a young band that has already proven themselves adept at playfully contorting a variety of genres.
First Rate People hit the road this past fall with Born Ruffians throughout the northeast of the U.S. They join the band once again as main support for this run of dates that kicks off March 23rd in Peterborough, ON. Full dates below.
First Rate People released their debut EP, It’s Never Not Happening, in early 2010 garnering high praise from folks at Pitchfork and Exclaim!. They followed up with the sultry single, “Gentlemen’s Club” in June. 2011 will prove to be a busy year. Be certain not to miss them.
