LOST IN THE TREES AND NPR MUSIC GO TO CAPITOL HILL

Last week North Carolina chamber-folk ensemble LOST IN THE TREES traveled to Capitol Hill along with NPR Music to make a case for NPR Music's mission. After a presentation by the public radio station, the band performed a live set which included four songs from their heralded album All Alone In An Empty House. As NPR music editor Stephen Thompson explains, "Lost in the Trees' gorgeous, string-infused music spoke for us better than even Amy (Schriefer, Product Manager) could."

NPR has now decided that the band’s recent performance should be heard beyond an audience of congressional staffers and “Washington fat cats” and so they have made a recording available to the greater public. You can now hear LOST IN THE TREES’ recent Capitol Hill set which, along with songs from their album All Alone In An Empty House, also includes the band’s dramatic new remix of the Bon Iver song "Lump Sum." While Justin Vernon’s original recording had an intimate distinctly home made feel, Ari Picker and LOST IN THE TREES enhance “Lump Sum” with further instrumentation, most noticeably powerful washes of strings and an echoing dream like piano, perfectly complimenting Vernon's beautiful and mournful vocals.
