War Tapes had an altruistic vision for this new EP, Turtles: to generously donate the holiday proceeds to charity to fight animal cruelty. They entered the studio planning to record acoustic versions of songs released on their doom-pop debut The Continental Divide. One month later, the Turtles EP had evolved into far more an experimental musical undertaking than originally planned.
