General Butt Naked, now Joshua Blahyi, takes us for a tour of the area he once controlled as a warlord. Now a converted Christian, Joshua recounts a day in the life of a cannibalistic general: eating the hearts of innocent children, training boys to kill, murdering enemies under the African sun. We learn of the secret powers of fighting completely naked and are taken to a spot where only a day earlier an assassination attempt was made on Joshua’s life. Today, Joshua preaches the gospel, helping to rehabilitate the former child soldiers who were most psychologically damaged by the horrific violence of their youth.
Three/21 recently shot with Cons to the Quence and Asher Roth in New York City for the track “Childish Games” on Cons’ upcoming mixtape “Movies On Demand”. This joint features some dope production by Mr. Attic and one of the best uses of a Biggie sample heard in a long time. Shout out to Statik Selektah for providing the cuts and be on the lookout for this vid next month. Band Camp Records is in the building!

Puddle Of Mudd gave an intimate performance of their hit single "Spaceship" last night at a private event in NYC. Video footage from the concert is now available to view online across Clear Channel Rock, Active Rock, and Alternative station websites!
Having spent 2009 rising through the blog ranks with copious freestyles, live performance videos, and the smash mixtape "Diary Of An ATL Brave" (presented by beloved clothing label 10.Deep), Donnis is ready to take the next step in his career by releasing his debut single "Gone" on Fool's Gold Records, the Brooklyn powerhouse founded by A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs, praised by Billboard as an "indie innovator" and a "tastemaker label" by the New York Times.
"Gone" is a perfect introduction to the stylistic diversity Donnis has in store. Produced by Needlz (Lupe Fiasco, G-Unit, Ludacris), the soaring, dreamy cut is as much a look into the future of Atlanta hip-hop as it is a classic A-Town ride-out in the vein of early TI and Outkast. It's already receiving radio love from everyone from Khaled to Hot 97's DJ Enuff, who named it a "Heavy Hitter Pick Of The Week", and a video is due out in February from directors BBGun. The single is rounded out by an up-tempo dance remix from Craze (Kanye West DJ, three-time world DMC champion) and a spacey take by critically acclaimed producer Nosaj Thing.
Donnis' relationship with Fool's Gold Records has been long in the making, from sharing stages with Fool's Gold's DJs to guest spots on records by A-Trak and Bag Raiders. "I've known A-Trak and Nick for a couple years. We've wanted to work together for a while now, but timing is everything - and the timing is finally right. I respect what they do and I'm excited to work with the Fool's Gold team on this record," says Donnis.
The Mercury-nominated British singer songwriter Lou Rhodes (of Lamb fame!) has returned with her third solo album “One Good Thing”, released April 20th through The Cinematic Orchestra’s new label Motion Audio (distributed by Ninja Tune).
“With ‘There For The Taking’ I wanted to express the way that, if we just stop and fall back into the arms of the universe for a moment, she usually comes through," says Rhodes of the writing process for this track.
‘One Good Thing’ brilliantly and beautifully reflects the very natural talent of one of Britain’s most accomplished and unconventional singer songwriters. Recorded in just two weeks in live takes with minimal editing and overdubs, the result is a record of disarming honesty.
According to Chinese Zodiac, the tiger is one of the most beautiful creatures on the planet, and is feared and revered in equal measure. It is featured in many Asian cultures as a manifestation of courage, power, passion and royalty. In Imperial China, where the dragon is the insignia of the emperors, the tiger is the military emblem of the highest supreme commanders of the army symbolizing fearlessness and victory.
As fate would have it this year, the year of the Tiger, Paper Garden Records’ own Mighty Tiger releases its debut album, Western Theater. With a limited edition 7” vinyl featuring “33 1/3” and a B-side remix of the song from Big Spider’s Back, the album will be available digitally alongside the vinyl that includes the full album download on March 9th, 2010.

Snoop Dogg has made his first signing as Creative Chairman of Priority Records, adding West Coast rappers Cypress Hill to the revived label’s roster. Snoop and Cypress Hill made the announcement on yesterday’s Lopez Tonight show, where the Black Sunday band performed their hit “Insane in the Brain.” Cypress Hill will release Rise Up, their first album since 2004’s Til Death Do Us Part, on April 6th.
The album’s first single, “Rise Up,” features the guitar work of Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello. “It was great to work with my longtime friends and comrades Cypress Hill on these two monster rock tracks,” Morello said of his new collaborators. “Cypress are back with a vengeance!” Morello will also appear on another Rise Up track called “Shut ‘Em Down.” This isn’t the first time Cypress and Rage have teamed up: Drummer Brad Wilk also performed on Cypress Hill’s 2000 rap-rock album Skull & Bones.
Cypress Hill spent the last three years in the studio working on Rise Up. “Making this record was so much fun,” Hill’s Sen Dog said in a statement. “It felt like the first record we ever made together. We recorded whatever we wanted to with no musical boundaries. And having the chance to work with one of my favorite guitar players of all time, Tom Morello, was amazing. I always knew we would make some kickass music together.”
Snoop was handed the reins to Priority Records last year in the hopes that he could help bring the famed West Coast label — which featured artists like N.W.A, Ice Cube and Eazy-E — back to prominence. Snoop didn’t have to look far for his first signing, since Cypress Hill have been rap staples from Los Angeles’ South Gate for over 20 years. Other rockers rumored to be featured on Rise Up include Slash and Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda.

King Khan might rightfully be accused of attempting to earn the title of hardest working performer in show business. Following a year that saw the release of three albums and several tours of the US, Europe, and beyond with multiple musical outlets, Khan is bringing the celebrated psychedelic soul big band explosion King Khan and The Shrines back to North America. The three week run of dates, which starts in Atlanta and culminates at Coachella on April 18th, marks their first jaunt in the States since last year's tour in support of the domestic release of the band's classic What Is?! album on Vice Records.
Those who have seen the band know what to expect- and are most likely planning to attend. To the uninitiated: a sweat soaked stage being rocked into a psychedelic oblivion as a sonic pastiche of horns, drums, bass, guitar, and organ weave a gritty soul canvas for Khan to splatter with his infectious persona. Other acts at Coachella be cautioned: the Rock Messiah will be performing in your midst and he intends to take no prisoners.
International superstar Debi Nova has officially released the first single from her US debut! The infectious "Drummer Boy" is available on iTunes this week, and it will appear on her forthcoming full-length album, Luna Nueva, due out in the spring.
A resident of Costa Rica and the US, Nova sings in both English and Spanish on the upcoming release, combining her native tongue and the language of her adopted homeland. "The idea of singing in both English and Spanish on the album wasn't planned," Nova says. "As I was writing the songs, I found myself naturally blending the two because it's something I do every day...The world is becoming smaller and I'm proud to represent that." Luna Nueva is a genre-defying blend of music that anyone can enjoy and proof that pop music really is a universal language. With six Grammy Award nominated projects (Black Eyed Peas, Ricky Martin, Mark Ronson…) and a number one dance single under her belt, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Debi Nova is ready to make her mark on the rest of the world.
Stay tuned for the video premiere of "Drummer Boy" next month across MTV's platform, and head over to iTunes today to grab the track. Visit www.debinova.com for more info.

Emerging from an extended holiday slumber, Raveonettes frontman Sune Rose Wagner has created a visually-charged video for In And Out Of Control’s most controversial track, “Boys Who Rape (Should All Be Destroyed).” Put together in his New York apartment, the clip is a sober take on a grave issue, featuring archival images of both victims and perpetrators. Like the song itself, which relies on sugar-sweet harmonies and a ba-ba-ba outro, the video closes by finding hope amidst despair. Considering the sensitive subject matter, Wagner has offered up a heartfelt letter detailing both the song’s origin and the impetus for the video. The message is included in full below.
“I penned this song in the later stages of recording “In And Out Of Control”. At the time I wanted to add an up-tempo song to the album but had no idea what I was getting myself into. The words started pouring and suddenly I realized I was writing about something very important and close to me. An anger stored in me for as long as I can remember. An anger triggered in me by personally witnessing the effect of rape on various individuals and the cowardice of the perpetrators. The immense hatred for someone savagely robbing another girl’s innocence. The disgust for someone brutally forcing a girl to succumb to horrendous acts of violence and sexual humiliation, scarring her for life.
The video was done in the same fashion as the songwriting. Quick and spontaneous. Anger and frustration was cast upon the images and thrown together in a disorderly fashion mimicking the violent behavior of rapists. The song is also a celebration of life and the fact that life does move on even after tragic events such as these. I chose to incorporate several "happy" moments, such as the best guitar solo ever, into the video to leave a sense of hope amidst all this tremendous despair.
In preparation for my new music video, The Rain, I linked with the emcee/producer LONEgevity, 1/2 of the group HINX JONES from Indianapolis to remix two of my joints, Fit Right and The Bump. Both tracks were featured on my EP/Demo The 100K Takeover. The Bump which was originally produced by 9th Wonder, was also featured on my most recently project, Love Potion Number 9th: The Hangover. Download both joints below. The music video for The Rain, which is also a 9th Wonder beat, will be released February 10th.

The boys from Noid, England have been busy since landing Stateside just a week ago. The Heavy played four rambunctious shows this past week, including two as support for the HotRats -- Gaz Coombes and Danny Goffey from Supergrass’ side project -- and two packed headlining gigs in NY and Philly.
In addition to their live concerts, The Heavy took over the web this past week. If you missed their performances the first time, check out The Heavy on WNYC, MTV Iggy, VIMBY, Shockhound, and LP33 TV. The band also performed live on WFUV.
