He played King MBA Geek Michael Eckman, sidekick and Shakespeare afficionado, and set the actual “shrew-taming” plot in motion (in the process acquiring that lovely Sharpie tattoo.) Before that, he was Wednesday Addams’ asthmatic sleepaway camp boyfriend in Addams Family Values, remember?

The 31-year-old character actor’s done pretty well for himself, supporting in two movies we love (Liberty Heights and Slums of Beverly Hills). He was also in Serenity. Right now he’s a regular as math genius Charlie Eppes on the CBS drama Numb3rs. And he got engaged last year. Holla at Seth Krumholtz.

Playing teen queen Bianca Stratford wasn’t really a stretch for Oleynik, who was a ’90s sweetheart herself. She was the eponymous Alex Mack in the hit Nickelodion show The Secret World of Alex Mack and Dawn in The Babysitter’s Club. She took a break from acting to go to Sarah Lawrence College (ironically, Kat Stratford’s dream school), and has appeared since as a guest star on Malcolm in the Middle, Psych and Without A Trace.

Does someone feel like telling us when Joseph Gordon-Levitt became a stone-cold fox? He played earnest, lovestruck Cameron in the movie, battling the school jerk for Bianca’s hand at prom. At the same time he played Tommy Solomon, (also earnest, lovestruck) teenage alien on Third Rock From The Sun, until he cut down on the acting to focus on his studies at Columbia University. He dropped out of school, made a conscious decision to be in “good movies,” and has received critical acclaim for his lead roles in Sundance fodder such as Brick and Mysterious Skin, also becoming smokin’ hot somewhere along the line. (Further evidence: this gorgoeus GQ photoshoot with Claudia Schiffer.) Most recently he played opposite Zooey Deschanel in (500) Days Of Summer

Heath Ledger’s career took off after he played bad-boy-with-heart Patrick Verona in 10 Things. The Patriot, Monster’s Ball, A Knight’s Tale– the roles were diverse, and Ledger was ready for the challenge. He stepped it up in 2005 with Brokeback Mountain and 2007 with I’m Not There. Just as he was reaching his peak as the Joker in The Dark Knight, Ledger tragically passed away. We’ll miss him– even as Patrick Verona, it was obvious he was so much more than just a pretty face.

After 10 Things came out, Ben Brantley of the New York Times said Stiles was reminiscent of a “young Jane Fonda.” We couldn’t agree more, and we loved her as the contrary, whip-smart Kat Stratford. Like Oleynik, she hit her stride in the ’90s with a series of teen movies (Save The Last Dance, O, State and Main), and like Gordon-Levitt, she took a break from acting to attend Columbia.

Once she graduated, she got back into acting. She’s still going strong, having starred in the Omen remake and the Bourne series, and plans to produce and star in an adaptation of The Bell Jar in 2011. Kat would be proud.
