Syracuse chamber pop quintet Ra Ra Riot’s sophomore effort, The Orchard, was written and recorded in just that, a peach orchard. The experience of making art in this idyllic setting was filmed for the documentary Ra Ra Riot: The Making of The Orchard, directed by Taryn Gould and Emily Kowalczyk. This piece was included on DVD in the limited-edition deluxe version of The Orchard, of which only a handful remain at indie retail. The album was released on August 24th and debuted at #36 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart, with New York Magazine calling it "poised to become the soundtrack to your life."
Now Ra Ra Riot: The Making of The Orchard is going to be featured and aired in full on video streaming site Hulu this Saturday, 10/16. The film will be part of a brand new Ra Ra Riot page on Hulu, which will also include three of the band’s music videos. A live performance from Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg, filmed on 9/23 by Baeble Music, will be featured on the Hulu homepage this Saturday as well, with the performance ultimately living on Baeble’s own Hulu page.
