The Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger - Acoustic Sessions

The Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger, who played, recorded and mixed Acoustic Sessions in their living room recording studio, will be the 4th album on their own record label, Chimera Music, run from their apartment kitchen.

Like a chimera itself - a mythical two-headed creature - The GOASTT work from one heart despite having two separate minds. Each are children of unique circumstances - he is the son of two artistic icons; she is the daughter of a Southern military family and was plucked into the world of modeling and globe-trotting in her early teenage years - The GOASTT draw from a scope of influence like no other. Their life experiences have sewn together their collective thinking, often filling in each other's sentences. Their talents and passions seem almost limitless. Musically, they've been experimenting with various forms, from wild psych and prog rock to acoustic folk to tongue-in-cheek hip hop meets French pop. After playing a number of small shows around New York City over the past year, on July 6 they released a Mark Ronson-produced 7" single "Jardin du Luxembourg," backed with a cover of Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot's "Comic Strip," en français. At the same time, they tucked themselves away in their studio to record two full albums. The first of these is the gorgeous Acoustic Sessions.

Acoustic Sessions shows their love of quirky and whimsical '60s folk pop, reminiscent at times of Syd Barrett, Incredible String Band and Simon & Garfunkel. Though stripped-down to spotlight their idiom juggling and intriguing wordplay, the sparse arrangements are adventurous and playful, anchored by the beautiful blend of Sean and Charlotte's voices, acoustic guitar and a smattering of other instruments - a vibraphone here, a banjo there.

The GOASTT weaves narratives around a metaphysical geography of their own devising, finding a surrealist beauty in the mundane. Their songs are like Dali's imaginary landscapes: lavender roads, oil slicks radiating rainbows, ballerinas tipping off tightropes, sweating snowmen, black and white films beamed from the future, Schroedinger's cat meets Pavlov's dog... Curiouser and curiouser, The GOASTT's world is a beguiling Wonderland and one stunning debut.
