Tamar Kaprelian was born in Scottsdale, Arizona and brought up in both Georgia and California surrounded by love and great music. She has been writing songs as long as she can remember, influenced as a kid by classic Disney films, but her true love of music came about when she discovered Billy Joel and Paul McCartney. The 22-year old singer/songwriter was discovered after entering a contest to cover OneRepublic's smash hit "Apologize" online and was chosen by the band as the winner. Since winning the contest, Tamar's entry has received over 3 million views on YouTube.
Fans of MTV's The Hills might recognize Tamar's single "New Day" which was featured prominently in the Season Five finale. It was also the theme song for Feeding America's Drive Out Hunger Tour where Tamar performed in over 30 cities in 30 days in support of the organization. Get to know this rising star in an intimate, acoustic performance of the song where she shares a little more about her music.
Tamar Kaprelian is set to release her Interscope Records debut next year with songs co-written by OneRepublic’s Brent Kutzle and Ryan Tedder, Evanescence’s Ben Moody and David Hodges, Kara Dioguardi and many others. She calls it a coming-of-age record that chronicles her life, relationships, and her utter determination to create an album that is real and true to herself, both personally and artistically.
